Exciting news! Over the past two years, we've had the incredible privilege of being part of "A Kansas Experiment," a groundbreaking initiative spearheaded by the Kansas Association of Community Foundations. The goal? To build a compelling case study affirming the relevance of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for community foundations, especially those in small and/or rural areas.
This transformative journey officially kicked off in September 2021, bringing together the dynamic teams from Bird City Century II Development Foundation, Legacy - A Regional Community Foundation, Peabody Community Foundation, Rice County Community Foundation, and Western Kansas Community Foundation.
The wealth of information and relationships cultivated through this experiment has been nothing short of invaluable. We've witnessed firsthand how the SDGs can be a guiding force for community foundations, sparking impactful change and collaboration.
Our involvement in this initiative has been particularly instrumental in advancing our housing project here in Bird City.
The lessons learned, insights gained, and connections forged have not only propelled our local efforts but have also given us a unique platform to share our project with numerous communities.
As we wrap up this chapter of the "Kansas Experiment," we're filled with gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to a broader understanding of the SDGs' applicability to community foundations, irrespective of their size or location.
