Scholarship Information

Greater Northwest Kansas Community Foundation manages the scholarships listed on this page that were established by generous donors who value education and want to make a difference in Northwest Kansas. Deadlines vary based on specific guidelines.  All applications must be completed online. Paper copies are not accepted. Applicants will be required to complete an eligibility quiz at first logon to determine which scholarships they are eligible to apply.

Tips for completing applications:

  1. Do NOT use your high school email address.  The email address used in the application will be the primary contact method throughout college if you receive a scholarship award.  If needed, create a personal email account in gmail, yahoo, etc. for permanent personal use.
  2. Verify that your references are willing to provide a POSITIVE reference for you prior to listing them as a reference.  You will need their email address to enter into the application.
  3. Let your personality shine and be thorough in your answers.  Your responses are key to the award selection process.

Accepting a scholarship:

Once you are awarded a scholarship, you must login to the scholarship portal to complete the required follow up steps. Before the first scholarship payment can be released, you must:

  1. Accept the scholarship agreement.
  2. Provide a copy of your upcoming course schedule.

If your scholarship is for multiple semesters, at the end of each semester you will need to login to the scholarship portal to provide  your current cumulative GPA and upcoming course schedule before the next scholarship payment can be released.

Failure to complete the follow up steps may result in forfeit of your scholarship.

Cheyenne County

Bird City Century II Development Foundation Scholarship Fund 

The Business Development Scholarship is a scholarship program offered to individuals wishing to expand their education, and live and work in Bird City. This scholarship is based upon financial need and a commitment to return to Bird City, fulfilling our goal to enhance the business community of Bird City.

Edgar and Mabel Robertson Scholarship 

The Robertson Scholarship is a memorial scholarship made available to Cheylin graduating seniors with primary emphasis being community service. This scholarship is paid to recipients over 2 years (4 semesters), providing a 2.5 cumulative GPA is maintained. Deadline to apply is March 31.

Wingfield Scholarship Fund 

The Wingfield Scholarship, established by Owen and Phyllis Wingfield, is a 4-year scholarship made available to Cheylin graduating seniors who wish to continue their education, but need some financial assistance in doing so. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA to be considered. Deadline to apply is April 5.

Decatur County

Flora Elizabeth Boutz Edwards Endowment Scholarship

The Flora Elizabeth Boutz Edwards Endowment Scholarship was first made available to 2018 graduates of Decatur Community Schools in Oberlin. This permanent scholarship will continue to support Decatur Community Schools annually through the generous benefit and forward thinking efforts of Ms. Edwards. This scholarship is paid out over a two-semester payout. Deadline to apply is April 1.

One Reference Evaluation is required for each applicant.  The specified reference may download the form that will be required by clicking HERE. When completing the online application, an email address for this reference is required and he/she will be sent a link to this form. The form will be submitted electronically after receiving the automated email from the scholarship system.

Graham County

Opal and Adolph Harris Estate Scholarship Fund for Hill City USD 281 

The Opal and Adolph Harris Estate Scholarship Fund for Hill City USD 281 has been established to benefit graduates of Hill City USD 281, or students who are home-schooled and live within the Hill City School District.  Special consideration will be given to students from the Penokee and Morland areas of the district.  Two scholarships will be awarded in the amounts of $1,500 each; paid over the course of two semesters. Deadline to apply is March 31.

Norton County

Della Connell Scholarship 

The Della Connell Scholarship Fund was established to assist Norton High School graduating seniors with continuing their higher education. This scholarship is set-up as a two-semester payout with the opportunity to apply for a second year renewal. Senior applicants must possess a minimum of 3.0 GPA entering community college or university, or a 2.0 GPA entering a vocational college. Second year applicants must provide official secondary transcripts with a minimum of 2.0 GPA and will be provided a code to apply for the renewal grant online. (Second year applicants should contact NCCF at 785-874-5106 for access code to apply.) Deadline to apply is April 15.

Norton Rotary Scholarship

The Norton Rotary Scholarship Fund has been established to benefit graduates of Norton High School who have been actively engaged in community service activities during their high school career. Deadline to apply is April 15.

Logan County

The Farmers State Bank Junior Bank Board Scholarship is available by invitation only to USD 274 – Oakley High School graduating seniors who have actively participated on the FSB Junior Bank Board. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required. This scholarship is paid as a single scholarship payment directly to a post-secondary institution upon proof of enrollment. Applications are due by April 15 (end of day) annually.

Sheridan County

Opal and Adolph Harris Estate Scholarship Fund for Hoxie USD 412 

The Opal and Adolph Harris Estate Scholarship Fund for Hoxie USD 412 has been established to benefit graduates of Hoxie USD 412, or students who are home-schooled and live within the Hoxie School District.  Two scholarships will be awarded in the amounts of $1,750 each; paid over the course of two semesters. Deadline to apply is March 31.

Youth on the Move Scholarship Fund

The Youth on the Move Scholarship Fund has been established to benefit graduates of Hoxie USD 412 who have been actively engaged in the community, especially youth activities, during their high school career. Deadline to apply is March 31.

Sherman County

Brianna Linin Memorial Scholarship Fund 

The Brianna Linin Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Brianna Danae Linin, who was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor which claimed her life when she was just five years old.  A local fundraising event, Goodland’s Got Talent, has been an annual memorial to her and her legacy, with proceeds each year going into this scholarship fund.  The first scholarships awarded from this Fund were to 2017 graduates of Goodland High School, Brianna’s classmates.  A perpetuating scholarship will continue in years beyond. Applications are due each year by April 1 for consideration.

Wallace County

Fox Still Memorial Scholarship 

The Fox Still Memorial Scholarship was established to assist Wallace County High School graduating seniors with continuing their higher education at a Kansas College with a major in Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice. One scholarship of $250 will be awarded. Deadline to apply is March 28.

Lisa Scott Scholarship

The Lisa Scott Scholarship was established to assist Wallace County High School or Weskan High School graduating seniors, or college students who graduated from either area high school, with continuing their higher education at a college or technical school. One scholarship of $500 will be awarded. Deadline to apply is March 28.


Mac and Bill Jones Family Scholarship 

The Mac and Bill Jones Family Scholarship was established to assist Wallace County High School or Weskan High School former students with continuing their higher education working towards a bachelor, master, or doctorate degree in Nursing. Applicant must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university to apply. One scholarship is made available annually to award. Deadline to apply is March 28.

Ruth Jackson Memorial Scholarship 

The Ruth Jackson Memorial Scholarship was established to assist Wallace County High School or Weskan High School graduating seniors with continuing their higher education at a college or technical school. One scholarship is made available annually to award. Deadline to apply is March 28.

Service to Others Scholarship

The Service to Others Scholarship was established to assist Wallace County High School or Weskan High School graduating seniors with continuing their higher education at a college or technical school. One $500 scholarship will be awarded. Deadline to apply is March 28.


W Paul Kirkham Memorial Scholarship 

The W Paul Kirkham Memorial Scholarship was established to assist Wallace County High School or Weskan High School former students with continuing their higher education at a post-secondary educational institution. Applicant must have accumulated a minimum of 30 required credit hours, preferably a junior or senior, to apply. One scholarship is made available annually to award. Deadline to apply is March 28.
