Foundation Funds:

  • GROW Decatur County Foundation Fund

In November 2016, the GROW Decatur County Foundation Fund was established through utilizing a matching campaign initiative offered through the Dane G. Hansen Foundation.  Incoming donations into this endowment fund were matched $1 for $1 up to $50,000.  The Decatur County communities, alumni and friends, stepped up to the challenge and exceeded their portion of the incoming contributions by more than double; raising approximately $115,000 prior to adding in the Hansen’s $50,000 match.  In 2017, local support came through once again and the fund has since passed the $280,000 mark! As this endowment fund continues to grow, a percentage of the fund balance will be made available annually to benefit Decatur County through grants dollars to help support projects throughout the county and communities within.

Grant applications from the GROW Decatur County Foundation Fund are now being accepted. Application details and guidelines can be found online at

  • Dane G. Hansen Foundation Community Grant Fund for Decatur County

To date, Decatur County is one of 26 counties in northwest Kansas that has been awarded six rounds of $50,000 grants from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation, with ten of those county funds established through the Greater Northwest Kansas Community Foundation. This grant fund was established in March 2015 to allow qualifying 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations; or educational, governmental or religious institutes per IRS, to apply for funding assistance for projects intended for Decatur County benefit. Qualifying entities may apply online; grants are awarded through a competitive application process. For criteria and application information, click here; also found on the Grants and Scholarships tab.  The Hansen Foundation has guaranteed additional rounds of funding to continue through 2021, providing continual county-wide participation in the Decatur County Strategic Doing Initiative.
