Gove County Community Foundation
Gove County Community Foundation (GCCF) became an affiliate of Greater Northwest Kansas Community Foundation in 2012. The goal of the Gove County Community Foundation is to increase economic and community development opportunities in Gove County. An affiliate is a collection of community funds to increase philanthropic giving in a geographic area. Both endowed and non-endowed funds are developed to provide financial support to 501(c)(3) and other qualifying non-profit organizations and for charitable purposed to benefit area residents.
- Dane G. Hansen Foundation Community Grant Fund for Gove County
To date, Gove County is one of 26 counties in northwest Kansas that has been awarded 14 rounds of $50,000 grants from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation, with 12 of those county funds established through the Greater Northwest Kansas Community Foundation. This grant fund was established in March 2015 to allow qualifying 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations; or educational, governmental or religious institutes per IRS awarded status, to apply for funding assistance for projects intended for Gove County benefit. Qualifying entities may apply online; grants are awarded through a competitive application process. The Hansen Foundation has guaranteed additional rounds of funding to continue through 2025, providing continual county-wide participation in the Gove County Strategic Doing Initiative, but this funding will adjust to $25,000 increments as of April 2022. - Gove County Community and Economic Development Fund
The Gove County Community and Economic Development Fund was created to support community and economic development projects and programs throughout Gove County.
In 2016, the Grow Gove County Fund was established after Gove County participated in a $1 for $1 matching initiative provided on behalf of the Dane G. Hansen Foundation. Each year since, Gove County residents and friends have taken part in this opportunity of contributing to this endowment fund during Gove County Match Month, where their personal contributions are matched by the Hansen’s (up to a total of $50,000). The Grow Gove County Fund is available for donors to continually donate to throughout the year; building this endowment will allow local grant dollars to be utilized for projects and needs of Gove County and the communities within for years and years to come. Grant applications are accepted annually in the summer: this year’s deadline is July 31, 2021.

The donor(s) are setup as the advisors to their Fund, which allows them to make all grant recommendations from their DAF. Grant recommendations must be to qualifying charitable 501(c)(3) organizations, educational, government or religious entities per IRS rules. The donor(s) may name succeeding generations as successor advisors or transition it to the Foundation to advise over upon donor(s) death.
